What you give us

The answers you type into the form: a first name, your relationship, memories, and your choices of tone, faith and length. We do not ask for your name, email address or account. Please do not include medical details, addresses, phone numbers, account numbers or private information about living people.

Google Gemini processes your answers

To write the drafts, your answers are sent to Google’s Gemini API. We use Gemini’s free tier. Under Google’s terms for the free tier, Google may use the content you submit and the drafts it produces to provide, improve and develop its products, and human reviewers may read that content. Google’s terms are at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms. If you are not comfortable with that, please don’t use this tool.

What we store and for how long

• Your drafts. We store the drafts the tool writes, plus a character count of your answers (not the answers themselves), under a random private link so you can come back to them. Unpaid drafts are deleted after 30 days. Purchased drafts are kept for 400 days so your link keeps working, then deleted. Email us to delete them sooner.
• Usage limits. To keep the service fair and within its daily limits, we count requests per day using a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address. These counters are deleted after 14 days.
• Purchases. When you pay, we store a hashed form of the Stripe checkout reference, the amount and the time, and a hashed device code for each device that opens the full drafts (up to three), to deliver what you bought and to handle refunds or disputes.

Browser storage

The site keeps two small items in your browser’s local storage: a random device code (so your purchase works on up to three devices) and the link to your last drafts. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.

Analytics

We count page views with GoatCounter, which does not use cookies and does not track you across sites. It records the page, referrer, browser type, screen size and country.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe Checkout. Stripe collects your card details and email address; we never see your card number. Stripe’s privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect against abuse.

Who can use it

Eulogy Writer is for adults 18 and over. It is not available in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland.
